Watch Volunteers Needed !!!!

Roving Patrol – Patrols the site on foot.  Ensuring that fires are tended and that site rules are being observed.  Maintain radio contact with Dispatch and Point and will direct traffic during emergency situations.  Specific areas include Camping areas, Battlefield Perimeter, Merchant Area.  Minimum 2 hour shift

Dispatch – Maintains radio contact by conduction welfare checks.  Keeps track of time and assists with shifting volunteers in and out of duty.  Provides information over the radio and directs rovers to specific points as requested. Minimum 4 hour shift

Clerks – Signs volunteers in and out – processes lost and found paperwork. Minimum 2 hour shift

Sergeants – Supervises all of the above and helps keep the official Log.  Assist Roving Patrol with emergency calls. Minimum 6 hour shift.

Anyone requesting more information about The Watch can also attend “Working the Watch (the Function Formally Known as Security)” – a class being offered at the AtenDragon Collegium on July 19^th.  This class will also be offered Friday afternoon of Highlands War.

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Highlands War 2008 A&S Competition On Saturday, August the 9th there will be a competition held for the glory and honor of either the Green or Gold. For, it is a war and the artisans have been called to fight.

There will be 3 categories:

• Wearing of the Wool
• Preparation of the Wool
• Feasting of the Lamb  (Feasting of the Wool did not sound very good)

The competition is open to all (even Normans!) and all ages.   Each person may enter one item in each category   A one page documentation along with at least 3 references is required.   All Entrants must register by 11am Judging starts at Noon. See the A&S page here.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye, One and All!

Highlands War does approach. This is a great chance to get out of the heat and enjoy the company of companions throughout the lands. At this wonderful war there will be laughing, dancing and much merriment. However let us not forget the fighting! For those of us not able to fight but love to be close to the action here is a great way to join in the fun. Water bearing is provided at all fighting arenas. Rapier, Hard Suit, Youth combat and Archery all need your help in keeping every one at war well hydrated. These are all volunteer hours and a wonderful chance to meet new faces and participate in new fields. Help keep every one enjoying Highlands War XIV. Please don’t forget that all volunteer hours do benefit every one including you local Barony or group.
